It’s been over two years since we last saw a trailer for 20th Century Fox‘s upcoming superhero horror flick, The New Mutants.
The film’s principal photography took place in 2017, but its release has been delayed multiple times. Now following Disney‘s purchase of 20th Century Fox, The New Mutants is now slated for an April 2020 release. The forthcoming film will be the final installment of the current X-Men movie franchise, which saw less than stellar reviews after The Dark Phoenix made its debut last year.
The story is inspired by “The Demon Saga,” the most popular New Mutants story, and sees the teens trapped in a secret facility and fighting to stay alive. The sale of 20th Century Fox to Disney, which plans to integrate the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, means the two proposed sequels to The New Mutants are unlikely to happen.
The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Mirage, and Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes. Look for The New Mutants to hits theaters on April 3, 2020.
